Description

The historical forces shaping the development of Puerto Rico to the twentieth century. The pre-Columbian period, the discovery and Spanish conquest and colonization. Indian and European influences and contributions are examined as well as the impact of the United States as successor to Spain in Puerto Rico's twentieth century development. Contemporary politics and government of Puerto Rico including the statehood-commonwealth-independence issues are similarly approached and reviewed.
