Methods of Teaching Middle School Mathematics
Description
Students will examine the development of curriculum for grades 7-9, aligning with state and national standards and incorporating appropriate teaching and learning strategies and assessment techniques. Focus will be on the needs of individual learners including English language learners and those with disabilities and special health needs, group instruction techniques, the development of literacy in the mathematics classroom, roles of the teacher in the classroom, and planning both curriculum and individual lessons. Includes 6 hours per week for 10 weeks of preservice field experience in high schools.
