Mission

The mission of the Department of Nursing at New York City College of Technology is to educate and train students with the knowledge and skills needed for safe, evidence-based, and collaborative nursing practice in today’s fast-paced healthcare environment.

With a focus on teamwork, professional accountability, and lifelong learning, the program ensures graduates are well- equipped to advance in their careers and contribute meaningfully to the nursing profession and society.

Degrees

The associate in applied science in program equips students with the essential knowledge and skills needed for safe, evidence-based, and collaborative nursing practice in today’s fast-paced healthcare environment. With a strong focus on client-centered care, the program prepares graduates to serve diverse populations in a variety of urban healthcare settings. Upon graduation, students are well-prepared to enter the nursing profession and have a solid foundation to further their education by pursuing a baccalaureate degree in nursing. In New York State, all nurses with an associate degree must obtain a baccalaureate degree in nursing within 10 years of graduation from an associate degree program.

The bachelor of science in program is designed for registered nurses (RNs) who want to advance their education and expand their career opportunities. The program prepares a diverse student body with the essential skills and knowledge needed to provide safe, high-quality nursing care. Through a strong foundation in critical thinking, leadership, cultural awareness, communication, and the use of emerging healthcare technologies, students develop the confidence to excel in today’s evolving healthcare environment.

Accreditation

The associate in applied science and the bachelor of science programs are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and registered with the New York State Education Department.
